Our Review
As we have noted in other reviews Cervin make their Capri stockings in a range of weights from 7 denier to 20 denier. All the styles share the same detailing of reinforced heels and toes (RHT) and all are made from 100% Nylon.
What makes this particular version of Cervin Capri 15 Denier Stockings stand out from the rest is the use of contrasting colours on the toe and welt.
There are a wide range of colours to choose from as you can see from the chart here. The upper colour is that used in the welt and on the toe and the lower colour is the base shade of the stockings.
We were particularly pleased to see this sample arrive as our review of the standard single colour version of these stockings was provided by one of our readers so we had not seen the style before.
Our test pair arrived in melon/blue and in size 6 which is the largest size available.
Sizing is based on a combination of weight and height but real stocking sizes are listed too, so size 1 is 8.5, 2 is 9, 3 is 9.5 ... and the largest size is 11. So nice to see stockings with an appropriate size chart rather than one borrowed from tights, but of course Cervin are stockings specialists.
We tested these stockings with a StockingsHQ 6 Strap Mesh Front Suspender Belt. A perfect combination.
Nothing looks or feels quite like proper stockings. The welt is double thickness for 8cm then there is a 3cm transition to the sheer leg, the whole welt and sub-welt have a crepe like feel to them. The legs feel light and diaphanous even in 15 denier but have a hardness and strength to them that only 100% nylon non-stretch stockings have.
RHT of course to a proper reinforced heel, leg shade not contrast and a reenforced toe. The photo above of a barely black/yellow pair suggests a contrast toe but on our royal blue/melon pair the toe was non-contrasting.
Although described as non-stretch you do get a little easing of the stocking as it warms up to your skin temperature. The welt and sub welt do stretch and this makes attaching a suspender strap a breeze, minimises suspender tension without compromising fit, gives the perfect shape to the top of your stocking and greatly enhances comfort.
Sizing is spot on. Just buy your normal size or study the size chart if you are not sure.
The look on the leg is classic nylons, perfect even colour but with wrinkles that appear when you straighten your knee or stretch your ankle only to fade away.
Cross your legs and everyone will know you are wearing stockings... no not from the flash of colour from the welt but from the swish of nylon on nylon, these are some of the loudest stockings we have tested.
Whether you choose the contrast style or the single colour version these stockings will not disappoint. Top quality hosiery at what is by today’s standards a crazy low price.
