We raved about Cervin Esprit Couture Stockings when we saw them all the way back in 2006 and here they are again, but with a twist in the form of a Lurex seam. Lurex can look striking, but it can also look incredibly tacky if not done well so how have Cervin done here?

The reinforced toe, reinforced sandal foot and fully shaped reinforced pyramid heel are what we have come to expect of Cervin, pure class.  The seam is indeed a classic 3-thread seam with one or perhaps two of the threads being gold Lurex.  This subtle use of Lurex gives the impression of gold thread.

To attach suspenders there is a deep welt with a sub-welt to give a strong transition to the sheer legs.

These are non-stretch 100% nylon stockings so correct sizing is vital, there are five sizes to choose from intended to fit up to a height of 180cm (5’11”) and a weight of 85kg (190lbs).

We had hoped to test these stockings with the Cleopatra 6 Strap Panty Girdle but the combination of a girdle with fixed length straps and non-stretch stockings was just never going to work.  There was simply no way to bring welt and suspender strap together.

Fortunately we could call upon other belts and both the Kiss Me Deadly Van Doren and Nylon Dreams Powermesh belts proved a perfect match.   These are not long stockings so you should pay heed to the size chart otherwise you will find the sub-welt just inches above your knee.

The look and feel on the leg is pure classic nylons, a hint of sheen and perfectly even colour except where you get temporary wrinkles at knee and ankle.  Smooth to the touch but with texture to “swish” when you cross your legs.

The seam is the defining feature of the design and it really works against the sheer black material.  Get them straight as you put your stockings on and with a good suspender your seams will stay straight all night.

A great look for the evening that will have you feeling expensive without breaking the bank, just watch the sizing.
