Charnos Run Resist 10D Stockings

Our Review

Maybe we are just cynical but when we read claims of a new yarn or a new knitting technique that stops hosiery laddering our hearts sink and we find ourselves thinking of everlasting lamp bulbs and tyres that don’t puncture.  In Charnos’s defence we must say that they claim only to last longer and to stop small holes laddering.

The risk of course in focussing of one feature such as run resistance is that other aspects such a fit, look and feel can be compromised.

As stockings this style scores a lot of plus points right off, first there are four sizes to cope with a variety of heights and figures... although why hip measurement is used for a garment that stops lower down will remain a mystery. Secondly there is an attractive lace top, and third the price is very sensible indeed in this time of wildly increasing hosiery prices.

Soft and smooth in the hand there are no immediate clues that these are anything other than normal stockings.

The leg is just a simple tube with a reinforced toe detail at one end and a lace top (9cm deep) at the other.  This detailing is shared by the run resist hold up which we have not yet reviewed.

If we had a concern about the design it was that the lace top may not take a suspender clasp very well, but we need not have worried.  So long as you have a belt with good quality metal clasps you will get a secure fastening without damage to the stocking.

Fit is excellent, as we would expect with so much Lycra in the yarn and the matt finish has perfect even colour. The lace top is pretty but the overall effect is slightly let down by a significant amount of the reinforced top of the leg being visible between the sheer leg and the bottom of the lace top.

There is a slight hardness/roughness to the touch once stretched on your legs but this does have an upside... when you cross your legs they really do swish.

We can’t comment on the laddering resistance as despite rough skin and sharp nails we didn’t even get a small hole.  Fortunately when TightsFashion tested the Charnos Run Resist Tights they did pull a thread and found the ladder control worked.

So in conclusion we are no longer cynical, just really satisfied.  If you want 10 denier matt finish stockings that look good and will survive everyday wear and tear then these are the ones for you.
