Our Review
For Valentines Day it just has to be stockings, preferably English made, classic fully fashioned point heeled seamed stockings. Luckily we had just such a thing to hand courtesy of StockingsHQ and Eleganti.
Eleganti make their stockings the old fashioned way, no Lycra, so you need to buy the right size, and there are 5 to choose from from X-Small to X-Large. The only adjustment you will get comes from the length of your suspender straps, and that has to mean a quality suspender belt with at least 6 straps each with a metal clasp. For our test we used a Cleopatra 8-Strap Suspender Belt.
If you are only used to modern hosiery then these stockings will surprise and delight. The are ever so smooth and soft and move almost like liquid over your hands
Spend a little time looking at them before you put them on. Unlike modern hosiery there is no seam across the toes, the seam you see up the back of the leg starts in the reinforced toe, runs down the middle of the reinforced sole, around the shaped reinforced heel and out through its point. No ugly joins or ends just one seam from toe to welt.
As the seam runs up the leg you will see tiny rows of feint dots running parallel to it, the hallmark of classic seamed stockings for over a century. There is a sub-welt for strength and the welt itself is formed by turning over the top of the stocking; perfect for strength and a little stretch.
There is actually a little stretch in these stockings, not enough to take liberties with the sizing but enough to ensure a far closer fit that you get with say Gio stockings. This means you get less wrinkling at knee and ankle too. Sizing is accurate but we did have one small issue; the largest size will indeed fit someone of 6’ or more, but the foot size could be a little short to sit the heel properly if you have feet in proportion to your height.
The look on the leg is flawless, these are stockings that ooze class. The feel on the leg is fantastic too, smooth and soft to the touch; but with just enough texture to swish discretely when you cross your legs.
Stockings don’t get much better than this.
