Our Review There are two things that we love about these stockings before we even open the packet. Firstly the packet contains not a pair of stockings but a pair and a spare. Secondly they include a little bag to allow you to carry your spare safely in your handbag. Great attention to detail, although at a price. So how are these Italian made stockings? The satin finish gets your attention first, beautifully smooth and soft, almost slippery in fact. Once you have them firmly in your hands you can take a close look... and the lace top really dominates, it is 13cm (5 inches) deep, has a very pretty lace design and is made with Lycra to stretch. Flat seams are used both to close the lace circle at the back and to attach the top to the sheer leg. The leg is shaped at the heel and finished with a reinforced toe that actually manages to be more sheer than the leg itself. There is a run stop between the toe and the leg so if a toe makes a hole you won’t get a ladder. The detailing is excellent and suitable for most kinds of shoe. Sizing seems quite generous, we tested the M/L size which should fit UK dress sizes 10-18 and heights 5’1” to 5’7”. These comfortably reached the top of a 34” long leg. The Lycra not only gives lots of stretch it also provides a great fit too. If you are new to stockings and suspenders these are an ideal place to start. They will stay put while you attach the suspenders, they can be stretched up towards the suspender and very little suspender tension is required to hold them up. Perfect even colour on the leg, beautifully smooth and soft to the touch and a really classy lace top. Stockings don’t get much better 8 December 2008 |
