Our Review
The full review will be written very soon, but we could not resist a peek in the box. Yes box, not packet, so ideal as a classy gift for a friend, or just somewhere safe for the pair you bought for yourself.
The beautiful lace top really is 12 cm (5 inches) deep, and it is really distinctive with gold thread woven through it.
The full review. So what do you get for £20?
Well as we said you get a box, and in that box a plastic packet with your stockings. The first thing to catch your eye is the gold thread in what Oroblu call the “precious lace band”. This appears far more random than the lace design in the picture.
Once you have a stocking in your hand you are struck by the contrast between the gossamer thin and feather light legs and the deep, heavy hold up top with its metal threads.
The legs are completely sheer apart from the very lightest of reinforced toes that you need to look closely to see, sandal toe would not be wholly inaccurate, there is shaping at the heel too. Although very sheer there is no impression of fragility, clearly very well made from top quality yarn. The deep lace top has two very sticky silicone bands each about 1 cm deep right at the top to keep these stockings firmly in place.
It is only when you start to smooth these stockings up your legs that you truly appreciate them, perfectly smooth, soft and sheer they go on like a coat of paint. The lace top stretches out to reveal its pattern and the gold thread highlights it beautifully.
These are not the longest hold ups in the World, so not for wearing with very short skirts, but paired with a little black dress finishing just above the knee they would be perfect. Subtle glimpses of the bottom of the stocking top will grab attention, while the depth of the stocking top will ensure nobody glimpses bare thigh. The toe is sheer enough to pair with strappy sandals.
Not stockings for everyday that is for certain, but for a smart party or hot dinner date there is nothing better.
