Our Review
Fans of girdles need no introduction to Rago, they are the brand that most would choose to wear. Rago girdles are not to be confused with those heavily boned garments of the mid 20th century, they combine the allure of a suspender belt with firm yet gentle shaping. Rago are from the USA where it could be argued that the competition to this sort of garment is infinitely less sexy control top pantyhose.
Our friends at StockingsHQ only stock this style in white but there are no fewer than 8 sizes based on waist measurement: small (26" waist), medium (28"), large (30"), x large (32"), 2x large (34"), 3x large (36"), 4x large (38"), 5x large (40").
First fastenings... there aren’t any, this is a pull on girdle. This should not prove to be any problem as the fabric is very stretchy and there is no boning or stiffening. A size 4 measures 32” un-stretched at the waistband.
With the exception of a diamond shaped panel in the front and two small triangles on each hip there is just one weight of fabric. The panels are joined with perfectly flat seams to ensure a flat and comfortable fit.
As a shaping and smoothing garment this design certainly works, and you can drop 2” on your waist without even being aware of any pressure. But how it is at holding stockings?
There are 4 suspender straps, these are sewn on and not adjustable for length. Our recommendation then is that unless you have stockings that you know are a perfect length pair this girdle with stretch stockings rather than 100% nylon no stretch stockings. We found something like Cervin Sensual 20D Stockings to be ideal.
The clasps are top quality and the tension from the stockings helps to keep the girdle flat.
Very much a garment for standing up we found is creased a lot when seated.
