Trasparenze Jkay Hold Ups

Our Review

You never know what Trasparenze will come up with next in the way of design but you can always be sure it will be eye-catching. The Jkay design, available both as hold ups and tights, adds a pattern of crossing ribbons to a basic sheer ... simple but visually striking.  There are three colour combinations red on black (as pictured on the packet), black on cosmetic (as tested by us) and black on black.  Only two sizes are made but Trasparenze claim these will cover all heights from 4’9” to 6’1” and weights from 90lb to 185lb (145cm - 180cm and 40-85kg).

Two things struck us when we took the stockings from the packet, firstly the satin sheen on the plain elastic welt and secondly the buckle design where the ribbons cross top and bottom.  The buckle detail is woven in metalised thread and sparkles like diamonds.

Everything about these hold ups shouts quality, high standards of knitting and sewing are apparent throughout.  The legs are shaped and finished with a reinforced toe detail; yes reinforced not sandal as stated on the packet.

Because of the ribbon and buckle design these stockings are a left/right pair so pay attention when putting them on, the buckles go to the outside.

Sizing is accurate but not generous and stretch is slightly limited by the ribbon design which is less stretchy than the base material.  With care you can get the top of the welt to the top of a slim to average 32” leg and once there the two silicone bands will keep everything in place throughout the day.

The design looks simply stunning and cries out to be seen. The matt ribbons and slightly glossy material each emphasise the other beautifully.

Our one word of warning is that the effect is to make your legs look shorter and less slim than they really are so this is a design that calls for slim legs, high heels and skirts that reveal plenty of thigh.

Not the cheapest hold-ups we have seen but certainly among the best.  If you don’t have a party to wear them too they are worth throwing a part for!
