Our Review If there is one brand that stands out above all others for fashion hosiery at present it is Trasparenze and there mock stocking tights are one of the real hits of the season. These are no mock stockings however they are real hold ups. There are two sizes to choose from and two combinations of colour. A black design on a natural background is the most common (as pictured above), our test pair are the less common black on black. Construction is quite simple with a very lightly reinforced toe and a shaped heel. The hold up top is quite narrow at just under 4cm including the decorative strip above the main satin finish elastic. The chain link design runs the full length of the back of the leg from the welt to just above the heel; what you cannot see from the picture is that it is repeated on the front of the leg extending some 20 cm below the welt. The design looks great on the natural background but less good in our opinion on black. Our black test pair was also let down by a 4 knitting faults in one of the stockings which appear as dark lines in the sheer material. Length is not particularly generous so if you are particularly long on the leg you may struggle to get the welt set as high as the model in the picture. The length issue is compounded by the fact that the single silicone band did not inspire confidence in the ability of these hold ups to hold up. The decorate strip above the welt did not sit flat and by rubbing and catching it would increase the chances of these stockings sliding down. A rare disappointment from Trasparenze both in the design and the execution. 25 January 2011 |
