Our Review
Polish/Italian brand Veneziana produce one of the most exciting ranges of stockings providing design features unseen elsewhere and at reasonable prices. One of their specialities is deep heavily patterned hold up tops.
Another feature of Veneziana is their sizing schema based on foot size, leg length and thigh circumference. We have to applaud their use of relevant measurements for stocking sizing. They make two sizes S/M and M/L with no overlap and enough range to fit most legs.
A lace top some 5” or 13cm deep dominates on opening the packet. On our test pair in black the details in the lace are picked out in red as pictured above. The sheer leg feels very light in comparison, lighter than we expect for 15 denier, and there is a little shaping at the heel. Veneziana claim a sandal toe but it is reinforced and although only slightly darker than the foot it is noticeable.
Sizing is spot on and the silicone bands grip well keeping the stockings in place. Fit on the leg is perfect as is the even colour of the matt finish fabric, a very classy look indeed.
So the legs look great and the stocking to looks great, but we have a major gripe with Veneziana over the detailing. If you are buying stockings with this type of stocking top you are planning for someone to see them, even if it is just you prior to dressing to go out, so we would have hoped for an attractive transition from stocking to stocking top. Instead we see slightly untidy transition from the sheer leg to the heavier material to which the top is sewn without any attempt to conceal it below the stocking top. The effect is to make a garment made of two quality halves look a little cheap.
Great stockings so long as you keep the main feature hidden!
