Our Review We really love it when we find something out of the ordinary to review and Veneziana have come up trumps for us today. Out sister site TightsFashion is well used to tights styled to look like stockings and suspenders but hold ups with a built in suspender is something new entirely. What we have here is a stocking with a very lightly reinforced toe and a shaped heel, nothing unusual in that... but at the top end where you would either expect a welt to take suspender clips or a hold up top there are two wide lace “straps” which connect to a plain deep elastic garter with two silicone bands to grip your leg. The key to putting these stockings on is to remember to put your foot through the garter and to take care not to pull too hard on the lace straps once the leg is nearly fully stretched over your leg. The look on the leg is very much like any other stretch stocking; the colour is good and even. The feel on the leg is just like wearing any other pair of hold ups. There are just two sizes, defined in terms of foot length and leg length and the sizing is spot on. We really did want to like this novel take on hold up stockings but somehow it doesn’t quite work. The problem is that you have little or no control over where the top of the stocking part sits; no amount of pulling the garter up your legs seems to have any effect, it just stretches the lace straps. I guess at the shorter end of each size the stocking may sit at a decent level but if you are taller like our model you may find that the top of the stocking is barely above your knee when the top of the garter is almost touching your briefs. With the right length of skirt they do work but we can’t help but feel that both tradition stockings with suspenders and standard hold up stockings would both look and feel better. 23 March 2012 |
